2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Complete the 5 min survey now by clicking on the link below.

    Australia Fellowship

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $4,000,000.00
    Summary
I am a physiologist-pharmacologist examining fundamental mechanisms of chronic inflammatory disease. By defining these mechanisms, I seek to discover the underlying cause of disease and to identify novel strategies for diagnosis and therapy of chronic diseases that are worldwide causes of morbidity and mortality.

Whiplash Injury: Mechanisms, Prediction And Directives For Improved Management Strategies.

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $772,359.00
    Summary
Whiplash is a costly condition with many people developing chronic symptoms. This research aims to improve the understating of involved mechanisms, diagnosis and classification of the condition from the time of injury until either recovery or the development of persistent pain. This will facilitate the early identification of those at risk of poor recovery and will lay the foundations for the development of improved early management, particularly in primary care.

Inhibitory Neurotransmitter Receptors As Therapeutic Targets For Chronic Pain And Anxiety Disorders

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $763,409.00
    Summary
There are currently few effective long-term treatments for chronic pain and anxiety disorders. Here we propose to develop innovative therapies for both of these debilitating neurological disorders. In addition, we plan to improve our current understanding of how these disorders occur in the first place. This may identify novel potential therapeutic strategies for treating pain, anxiety and a host of other neurological disorders.

The Role Of The Brain And Mind In Chronic Pain.

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $763,409.00
    Summary
Chronic pain afflicts 1 in 5 Australians; it is one of our most expensive health care problems. Prof Moseley's research asks: (1) Why do some people get chronic pain but others don't? (ii) How can we treat chronic pain so sufferers can return to a meaningful, productive and comfortable life? (iii) How can we stop chronic pain from developing in the first place? His research involves behavioural and physiological experiments in humans, that lead to new treatments, which are tested in clinical tri .... Physiology And Pathophysiology Of Disorders Of The Musculoskelatal System

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $898,008.00
    Summary
I am a neuroscientist and physiotherapist focussed on the conservative management of disorders of the musculoskeletal system. My research aims to uncover the mechanisms underlying musculoskeletal pain and other disorders such as incontinence, to develop and refine treatments for these conditions, and to understand the mechanism for efficacy of these treatments.

Improving Outcomes For Older People With Musculoskeletal Foot Disorders

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $782,370.00
    Summary
Foot pain affects one in four older Australians and leads to difficulty walking, loss of independence and reduced quality of life. The research outlined in this application will address this common but largely ignored health problem by improving our knowledge of the causes of foot pain, developing novel treatments for foot disorders incorporating specialised exercises, footwear and insoles, and testing the effectiveness of these interventions in clinical trials.

Innovation In The Primary Care Management Of Back Pain

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $152,595.00
    Summary
Back pain affect millions of Australians. Billions of dollars are spent each year on treament but health outcomes are often poor. Experience from overseas shows that simply spending more money on current treatments won’t fix the problem. This fellowship will be used to support a program of research to improve the quality and efficiency of treatments and health services.

Venoms To Drugs: Translating Venom Peptides Into Human Therapeutics

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $774,540.00
    Summary
Many disorders of the nervous system, including chronic pain, epilepsy and the neuronal degeneration suffered following a stroke, result from malfunction of channels that ferry ions across neuronal cell membranes. There are very few drugs available for treating these disorders and they often have debilitating side-effects. We are developing potent and selective modulators of these ion channels as the next-generation of safe and effective analgesic, anti-epileptic, and neuroprotective drugs.
