2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Complete the 5 min survey now by clicking on the link below.

Environmental And Host Contributors To Infectious Health Threats And Burden Of Infectious Diseases

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $474,712.00
    Summary
Infections remain a major cause of morbidity and mortality. I will undertake research in a number of areas, with a focuses on: i)Imported infections: My lead role in and access to a global network of sites that track infections among travellers and immigrants will enable study of emerging priority issues among mobile populations. ii)Waterborne risks: I will perform studies to identify optimal strategies for improving water supply and associated health impacts in developing countries.

Minimising Infection Risks Associated With Water Exposure And With International Travel: Addressing Data Gaps To Improve Policy And Practice

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $401,361.00
    Summary
This project will provide better understanding of health risks associated with two areas of infectious diseases: i) exposure to water, including water recycling and ii) imported infections associated with international travel. Both these issues are highly topical, and new information about exposure risks is important to help guide appropriate preventive advice.

Investigation Of Haematopoietic And Leukemia Stem Cell Self-renewal.

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $415,218.00
    Summary
The blood stem cell properties of self-renewal and multipotency allows for the constant replenishment of all blood components. Blood cancer stem cells use self-renewal to propagate disease, and can enter a quiescent-dormant phase to evade treatment. My research focuses on the identification and mechanisms of new genes that govern these unique blood stem cell properties, and to investigate whether these genes are also important in blood cancers.

The Role Of Glycans In Arboviral Disease; From Immunomodulation To Glycotherapeutic Treatment Strategies

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $419,180.00
    Summary
Dengue and chikungunya viruses are leading causes of emerging mosquito-transmitted (arboviral) disease worldwide. Currently there are no available vaccines or therapeutics making combatting these arboviral diseases one of our most pressing global health challenges. Preliminary evidence shows that glycan recognition is critical for disease immunopathogenesis. This project focuses on the role of viral glycans in arboviral disease with the aim of identifying and expanding on new therapeutic targets

Unravelling Plasmodium Vivax Transmission To Anopheles Mosquitoes: Role Of Naturally Acquired Transmission Blocking Immunity And Efficacy Of Novel Vaccine And Drug Candidates

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $431,000.00
    Summary
This project is aimed at better understanding transmission of P. vivax, the world’s most widely spread malaria parasite. Using a newly established experimental platform that enables us to feed P. vivax infected blood to Anopheles farauti mosquitoes, we can start researching factors in human blood that determine P. vivax infection success, test new vaccine and drug candidates for their ability to block transmission and thus significantly advance science surrounding this neglected parasite.

International Strategies To Reduce Population Salt Intake

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $428,065.00
    Summary
Effective, sustainable and scalable strategies to reduce salt are needed so countries can achieve the global target to reduce salt by 30% by 2025. This research program will support the optimal development of such strategies through trials and intervention research projects, supplemented through a series of systematic reviews and feasibility and cost-effectiveness assessments. The main outcome will be new evidence on the effectiveness of different interventions to support translation globally.
