The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your
interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take
approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure
services including Reasearch Link Australia.
We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we
deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research
Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.
Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Women's Hormones And Health Across The Adult Life Span
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$951,005.00
Summary
Sex hormones are important in younger and older women’s health. However, normal levels of sex hormones for women of different ages and the extent to which sex hormones are associated with common health outcomes are yet to be established. These issues will be systematically studied in comprehensive, community-based studies of younger and older Australian women. The findings will be immediately translated into clinical practice guidelines and community education.
Psychiatric disorders are associated with considerable social and economic burden which could be reduced if we understood mental health outcomes in high risk populations. This fellowship will use advanced brain imaging to understand the development of mental health disorders in those at high risk of bipolar disorder and dementia.
This fellowship support will allow A/Prof Xiao-Jun DU to pursue his recent pre-clinical research findings on novel therapeutic interventions for cardiovascular diseases. He will particularly focus on new treatment of accumulation of excessive scar tissues (fibrosis) in the heart and large arteries following disease and cardiac inflammation, factors knowing to play pivotal roles in progression of cardiovascular diseases.
I am an aged care rehabilitation researcher seeking to minimise disability and prevent falls in large numbers of older people. I am particularly interested in the role of exercise in falls and disability prevention.
Large Scale Data For Common, Potentially Modifiable Causes Of Morbidity And Mortality
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$761,656.00
Summary
Large-scale cohort studies, that follow the health of a large proportion of the general population over time, have enormous potential to inform disease prevention and the optimal use of health services. The planned research will use large scale cohort study data, linked to data on health outcomes and use of health services to provide much needed evidence on Indigenous health, safety of medicines and healthy ageing.
Therapeutic And Diagnostic Approaches For The Neurodegenerative Diseases
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$804,106.00
Summary
Diseases of the brain such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease cause enormous socio-economic harm to Australia. They are a major cause of disability and the burden associated with mental illness is predicted to grow by almost 50% over the coming decade. Therefore there is an urgent need to develop new approaches to identify and treat these diseases. This Fellowship will be dedicated to creating new diagnostic methods and treatments for these diseases
Improving Outcomes In Heart Failure Through Basic, Clinical And Translational Research
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$951,005.00
Summary
Heart failure (HF) is a common, chronic cardiovascular condition characterised by a reduced capacity of the heart to function. Patients with HF have a poor quality of life and significantly reduced survival. My proposed programme of research will improve the understanding of heart failure (HF) and lead to better treatments.
This research proposal outlines studies aimed at identifying specific biomarkers of neurodegeneration. Given the complexity and clinical overlap of these disorders the identification of diagnostic biomarkers for their early detection is crucial; especially in the identification of at-risk individuals before the development of symptoms. This will allow early intervention with disease-modifying medications which by arresting neuronal loss would prevent or delay onset of the disease.
Improving Health Outcomes With Ageing And Diabetes: A Focus On Prevention And Management Of Cardiovascular Disease
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$638,517.00
Summary
My research combines interventional trials, epidemiology and health services implementation research with a focus on prevention of cardiovascular disease, disability and dementia, including in the elderly and those with diabetes. With direct impact on the routine care of people who succumb to disabling vascular complications, it will evaluate treatment strategies but also influence change in health care and policy through the provision of trial evidence and evidence-based health services.
Promoting Healthy Ageing Of Brain And Mind Through Epidemiology And Intervention Research
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$664,584.00
Summary
This project focuses on identifying ways that individuals and societies can promote healthy ageing to prevent dementia and mental health problems in later life. Large-scale longitudinal studies and intervention studies will be evaluated to identify factors that lead to healthy and unhealthy ageing.
