2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

    Translational Studies In Malaria

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $412,419.00
    Summary
The growing momentum towards elimination of malaria and the need to control of drug-resistant parasites means that new drugs and vaccines are needed. In this Fellowship I will use the human malaria challenge system that I have developed to test whether new drugs and vaccines for malaria are working sufficiently well to justify their full development. In this system healthy volunteers are deliberately infected with malaria and then cured before they become unwell.

Better Care Of Heart And Lung Disease For Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander People In Rural And Remote Australia

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $380,583.00
    Summary
Lung and heart disease are major contributors to the Aboriginal Australian and Torres Strait Islander health gap. This is even more so in remote and regional Australia. This Fellowship will generate new knowledge regarding how best to prevent, diagnose and treat heart and lung disease in this setting. Based in Alice Springs, it will bring together researchers and health care providers across northern and Central Australia and link them with our leading national research institutes.

Improving Clinical Outcomes Of Melanoma Patients

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $577,189.00
    Summary
Melanoma incidence continues to rise & it remains a leading cause of cancer death in young adults. Prevention & early detection are foundations of disease control. Drug treatments for advanced disease have recently begun to extend survival but remain ineffective in many. Utilising the extensive resources of Melanoma Institute Australia (world's largest melanoma treatment centre), this research seeks to improve outcomes of patients with difficult to treat & aggressive melanomas.

Improving The Impact Of Perioperative Clinical Trials

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $494,733.00
    Summary
This research focuses on (i) Designing and conducting large multicentre trials in anaesthesia and surgery, (ii) Confirming new patient-centred outcome measures in surgery, such as patient-rated quality of recovery, returning home after surgery, and disability-free survival; and (iii) Innovative trial designs to improve the efficiency (less burden, lower costs) of trials.

Integration Of Basic And Translational Genitourinary Cancer Research Into Academic Clinical Practice

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $467,961.00
    Summary
Improvements in human health can only occur when the best basic research is tested in the best clinical trials and then applied in clinical practice across the board. Practitioner Fellowships are designed to support people who bridge these areas. This Fellowship will support an integrated program of research involving laboratory studies in prostate cancer, clinical trials in prostate and other types of cancer, application to clinical practice, and high level clinical and research leadership.

Modernizing The Knowledge Base For Reproductive Health Care: Individual Patient Data Meta-analysis As The New Standard For Evidence Synthesis In Reproductive Health.

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $575,662.00
    Summary
Characteristics of sick persons differ, and criteria that have been used to include them in studies may not match the individual profile of individuals who typically present to the health system. I propose a step towards more personalised medicine, which is new in the field of reproductive health. In a global collaboration, we plan to collect individual participant data of studies, and develop clinical rules and guidelines that tailor the individual profile of the sick individual.

Saving Money And Saving Lives: Integrating Comparative Effectiveness Trials And Translational Research In Critically Ill Patients

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $338,938.00
    Summary
I am a full-time Intensive Care Specialist in Sydney who combines clinician duties with research. My research is the design and conduct of large trials that have changed and will continue to change the management of critically ill patients around the world. I led two of the largest trials ever conducted in critically ill patients and have recently been funded to lead a further even larger trial. The Practitioner Fellowship will allow me to continue and expand this essential research.

Neurobiology Of Childhood Speech And Language Disorders: Advancing Diagnosis, Prognosis And Management

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $467,961.00
    Summary
Half a million Australian children have a speech/language disorder, tripling their changes of poor academic outcomes, limited employment options and social isolation. Current speech therapy is outdated, focusing on symptoms and ignoring important evidence on underlying aetiologies. I will transform detection, diagnosis and treatment of speech/language disorders to optimise patient outcomes, by identifying and translating findings on genes and brain pathways leading to these conditions.
