Development of a Multi-University Collaborative Survey Research Facility. The aim of this project is to establish a statewide survey research facility that enables academics in Victoria to undertake survey research that achieves world best practice technical standards. It will include three facilities for computer based surveying:CATI (computer-assisted telephone interviewing), CAPI (computer-assisted personal interviewing), and CADI (computer-assisted data input). The aim of this project is to establish a statewide survey research facility that enables academics in Victoria to undertake survey research that achieves world best practice technical standards. It will include three facilities for computer based surveying:CATI (computer-assisted telephone interviewing), CAPI (computer-assisted personal interviewing), and CADI (computer-assisted data input). The facility will include a network hub to be based at Deakin University. This hub would then coordinate a network of satellite facilities designed as mobile operations, to enable movement of the facilities between campuses. Policing and Quality Part-time Work: Constraints and Options. Research suggests that a major barrier to retaining women both in sworn and unsworn positions in police work is the limited provision and uptake of part-time work. A related impediment is the conditions associated with the part-time work available in policing services. This project uses an action research approach to analyse the constraints on and options for ensuring that part-time work within Victoria Police is good 'quality' work. ....Policing and Quality Part-time Work: Constraints and Options. The actor and institutional dynamics in emerging socio-technical transitions. The project addresses the translation of environmental resource policies to widespread practice in the face of institutional inertia. Tertiary education and social capital in Victoria: the effects of the new economy courses in Business and IT. Over one third of tertiary students are enrolled in the fast-growing new economy disciplines in business studies and IT. In partnership with the Victorian government, this project studies the contribution of business and IT courses to social capital, the collaborative networks that underpin economic innovation and sustainable community. Education policies that fuse knowledge, economy and society are globally influential. Such policies seek to promote economic and social enhancement. Yet critics claim that these policies have a narrow view of knowledge, society and the economy, and of current trends. It explores the ways that the knowledge/economy/society discourse is interpreted in national and supranational policy texts, by senior policy agents and in innovative educational programs in different educational settings.
