This project contributes to a long-term, large-scale research endeavour focused on the interaction of gender and the development of forms of science and technology in history. This project constitutes a significant investigation into the gendering of medical theory and practice. It is an innovative survey of early modern ideas about the production of medical knowledge and practices, about who had the right and authority to determine medical theory and about how women participated in this framework. The project is expected to result in a major research monograph and a number of key articles.
