Acute Vertigo In Emergency Departments: Distinguishing Between Central And Peripheral Causes By Objective Measure Of Oculomotor Examination (HINTS)

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $181,065.00
    Summary
The goal of this work is to provide a quantitative objective measure of HINTS for developing an automatic diagnostic decision tool to differentiate vestibular neuritis (peripheral) and stroke (central) in patients presenting in emergency department for acute vestibular syndrome. Improving The Role Of Community Pharmacists In Respiratory Health

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $177,197.00
    Summary
Given that treatments are effective in addressing symptoms in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), but there is no cure, it is important to focus on strategic ways to use current treatments effectively for optimal management and thus the maximum benefit for the patient. This project proposes an innovative reconfiguration of health systems pathways in COPD patient care by using specialised trained pharmacists working closely with GPs in providing evidence based care.

National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $177,197.00

TreatOA4life (Treat OsteoArthritis4life) – A Sustainable Lifestyle Treatment To Improve Outcomes In Knee Osteoarthritis

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $181,065.00
    Summary
Osteoarthritis (OA), the most common cause of arthritis, was estimated to cost $3.75 billion AUD in 2012. It has no cure or effective treatment and its cost is escalating with the obesity epidemic. Translating Rheumatic Fever Prevention Strategies Into Practice In Australia's High Burden Settings

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $178,157.00
    Summary
Rheumatic fever is a serious preventable disease causing premature illness and death, yet unacceptably high rates occur in Australian Indigenous communities. Prevention can be achieved with regular penicillin injections, but there are many barriers, so people needing this treatment frequently miss doses. This program proposes to close the evidence-practice gap by forming effective partnerships to effectively roll out rheumatic fever prevention strategies in clinics across the Northern Territory.
