Building better: Neighbourhoods to benefit children with disability. This project aims to identify which neighbourhood features support wellbeing for children with disability. The project expects to advance innovation by combining Australian disability policy, children's lived experience of disability, and high-quality child development and built environment data. Exploring the effects and maximising the benefits of the Gold Coast Rapid Transit project. Is light rail the ‘solution’ to Australia’s urban transport problems, or an expensive folly? Such questions will be explored in this project that focuses on the Gold Coast Rapid Transit project and comparative examples overseas. The project will include surveys of public transport users, transport modelling and an innovative trial of behaviour changed programs.
A global urban atlas of nature-based solutions for climate resilient cities. This project aims to systematically examine, map and provide a synthesis of the governance of nature-based solutions (NBS) in Australian and global cities. This project expects to generate new knowledge and a novel synthesis methodology about the global landscape of NBS governance, and explore the acceleration of urban transitions with NBS through a global urban atlas. The global urban atlas will inform policy agendas a ....A global urban atlas of nature-based solutions for climate resilient cities. Socio-spatial implications of smart city development in India. The project aims to generate extensive new knowledge on the complex socio-spatial implications of smart city development; and the ways in which they have been further consolidated, expedited, and elevated in response to COVID, and to stimulate the pandemic-hit economies. It makes a significant contribution to smart urbanism discourse globally with a focus on equity and its special role at times of crisis. This project will study more than 1000 cities across the world to discover how we should build our cities into the future to achieve economic and social growth in a way that causes minimal environmental harm.

This project plans to fill major research gaps by delivering new evidence on the drivers of intergenerational housing wealth inequality. It aims to generate new knowledge on the ways in which baby boomers manage housing wealth, and shed light on their experiences of using wealth transfers to improve their children’s housing outcomes. Transforming the outer suburbs through master planned estates: a governmental challenge. Master planned estates are becoming more common on the outer suburbs of capital cities and the developers of these estates are required to plan and manage a whole range of services. This project examines the role that private actors play in 'governing' suburban estates alongside traditional forms of government and the challenges that ensue.
