Exploring social innovations in urban water systems with a novel modelling approach. The project will investigate how wide reaching social renewal takes place in the urban water sector. With improved understanding of how social innovation works, the project will develop a computer model to assist decision-making under conditions of high uncertainty with systematic scenario analysis.
Towards an understanding of the relationship between creative capital and regional economic and employment development. The project aims to investigate the role of creative capital and creative industries in regional economic and employment development. It will critically examine strategies designed to foster innovation and creativity: developing and attracting the ?creative classes?, and fostering the connection of creative capacity across industry, business and cultural realms.
A sociological investigation of key problems in contemporary Australian housing policy-making. Long-standing housing problems in Australia have exacerbated social division and conflicts within Australia. This project will investigate the causes and impact of these social divisions and conflicts. Its findings will provide insights about the conduct of social policy and the capacity governments to address contemporary housing problems.
What makes a community resilient? Examining changes in the adaptive capacities of Brisbane suburbs before and after the 2011 flood. This project will be the first study to examine the key community processes and structures associated with community resilience both before and after the 2011 Brisbane floods. Drawing on a longitudinal study of Brisbane suburbs, it will critically assess the conditions under which suburban communities respond to and recover from a major disaster.
Building communities: managing public assets to provide social value. Local government facilities have a social value for the community beyond the immediate provision of service or amenity. The findings will enable governments and not-for-profit agencies to improve services for homeless families to improve their health and well being. It expects to generate new knowledge for social work, policy and welfare by documenting how problem families are understood and managed through the key areas of data linkage, priority investment, income management and family support, and how these areas might be shaped by ....Problem families in the 21st century: policy, practice, outcomes.
