A History of Women's Political Thought in Europe 1700-1800. This research will contribute to Australia's reputation for innovative scholarship on women and feminism and foster the development of models of active female citizenship and political participation by deepening our knowledge and understanding of the contribution that women made to political philosophy in the pre-revolutionary period.

The Print Cultures Network: Print Culture and National Culture in a Globalised Economy. This Network will bring together researchers from a range of disciplinary/professional backgrounds and specialists in the deployment of frontier technologies in information management. Building on expertise in literary history, publishing, editing and bibliographical studies the Network will establish collaborations between researchers in the emerging interdisciplinary fields of book history, print culture, p ....The Print Cultures Network: Print Culture and National Culture in a Globalised Economy. This Network will bring together researchers from a range of disciplinary/professional backgrounds and specialists in the deployment of frontier technologies in information management. Building on expertise in literary history, publishing, editing and bibliographical studies the Network will establish collaborations between researchers in the emerging interdisciplinary fields of book history, print culture, publishing studies and new generation information management. Its connective thematic will be the dynamics between print culture/the print economy, national cultures and global structures of production and consumption. LAW AND LITERATURE: A HISTORICAL AND INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDY. This project is a comprehensive new study of the relations between law and literature from a historical and interdisciplinary perspective. It examines the evolving links and the tensions between these two fields, investigating law's shaping of literature and the literary mediation of law across a range of periods and common law jurisdictions. These fears transcend national boundaries, connecting the experiences of contemporary Australians to a common global experience. It is this inter-connected trans-national history of the profound impact of noise on our lives that this project will begin to chart. Female Convicts as Women Travellers: an investigation into how the itineraries of convict experience affected life narratives. For convict women sent to Australia, ?transportation? meant international travel. By mapping the convicts as travellers, this project will afford a new perspective on women whose convict itineraries radically affected the direction of their lives. Paradise Lost - Utopia Reclaimed: Writing the Wrongs of French Exploration in the Antipodes. When France's attempts to claim regions of Australia failed, the dream of an Antipodean paradise was lost. In its breach rose a new utopian frontier. Paradoxically, this anticipatory perspective revives a form of utopianism previously established in classical French-Australian writings. Medieval war in modern imagination. This project analyses for the first time the growth of medievalist imaginations of war in Australia from colonial times onward. It also investigates for the first time the influence of medievalism on Australian war literature and cinema, exploring how common themes in the representation of Australian war - male group loyalty, anti-authoritarianism, self-sacrifice and posthumous honour - relate to medievalist traditions.
