Understanding creative excellence: a case study in poetry. Creativity is the engine of a healthy and successful society. In order to learn how best to encourage and generate creativity, there needs to be a greater understanding of how successful creative professionals operate. This project focuses on poets as a case study that will inform the development of ways to enhance creativity in other professional groups.
The 21st Century Orchestra: researching and developing sustainable models. The project will investigate and prototype innovations which reinvent the orchestra from its current 19th Century form, to one which maintains high quality but resonates with more recent changes in music consumption patterns, musical tastes, performance modes (e.g. immersive), distribution media, and the revolution in instrument design. The project will deliver a research model connecting quantitative data to audience perceptions, choices and influences; seven in-depth case studies informing and elucidating this model; and a user-friendly template to replicate this research in other places and disciplines.
