Summary
Advances in diagnostics, treatment and clinical practice have transformed some cancers from fatal to chronic and sometimes curable diseases. Many Australian women now live with the effects of cancer treatment and are at risk of cancer recurrence, chronic disease and poor quality of life. The Womens Wellness After Cancer Program aims to maximise the wellbeing of women treated for cancer, utilising internet and Smartphone technology to support them to live healthier lifestyles.

People in long term residential care have complex and chronic care issues. The staff may be able to provide more focused care if they have the support of specialists for advice on the care of residents. This project considers the value of a geriatric specialist assessment for all new residents via video conferencing, directly to the residential care facility. The CRE in Telehealth will advance knowledge and research capacity in telehealth to increase the availability of healthcare to all Australians. Modern communication technologies used in telehealth have the potential to revolutionise healthcare delivery. The CRE will focus on health service settings where access is currently challenging: Small rural hospitals; residential aged care facilities; people’s homes (particularly for disabled and older people); and indigenous communities.
