Summary
SISTAQUIT®(Supporting Indigenous Smokers to Assist Quitting) is a research backed training program that provides free, online training in quit smoking methods to health providers. This study aims to expand the SISTAQUIT intervention to all Australian health services that cater to Indigenous women during pregnancy. This research will test numerous methods to implement SISTAQUIT to identify the most effective and economical strategy suitable for roll-out, and build Indigenous workforce capacity.
Improving CPR Quality By Optimising The Language Used In CPR Instructions

Summary
A mixed methods project to determine if the quality of dispatcher assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (DA-CPR) can be improved by understanding and including the wording used by laypeople to describe CPR. This study will seek input from lay people through focus groups and test the effectiveness of the changes to DA-CPR instructions, with the objective to determine the impact of including these descriptions in DA-CPR instructions on the quality of CPR in a simulation study.
Living kidney donation remains a complex ethical issue. The expectation is that the risks to the donor are outweighed by the benefits to the donor and recipient. The long-term risks to the donor are however uncertain. This is an international prospective cohort study of 310 donors and 310 non-donors, including the recruitment of 85 donors and 85 non-donors in Australia. We will determine the long term risks on a kidney donor of a series of physical and psychological health outcomes.
Commercialisation Of A Glycoprofiling Diagnostic Kit And Novel Therapies For Biofilm Related Respiratory Disorders

Summary
Our preliminary studies have shown that a group of patients who suffer from chronic inflammatory disease and have bacterial biofilm identified on their mucosa have worse outcomes even after surgery. We have shown that they lack certain small protein and sugar molecules on their respiratory lining. We aim to use this technology as a diagnostic tool to aid the doctor in prescribing the appropriate treatment for these patients to prevent bacteria regrowing in their respiratory tract.
