Summary
Proteins in motion - new tools for biotechnology. This project aims to assess the function of proteins by monitoring their motions using new nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy techniques. As snapshots of 3D protein structures have been determined by crystallography, the new tools are designed to analyse functionally important motions in solution. A facility for ultrafast (> 100 kHz) magic angle spinning NMR spectroscopy of proteins in the semi-solid state will bring cutting-edge know- ....Proteins in motion - new tools for biotechnology. Smart Plants and Solutions for Enhancing Crop Resilience and Yield. The Fellowship aims to produce transformative solutions targeting crop resilience and food security. The chloroplast, the site of photosynthesis, regulates a suite of cellular processes that control photosynthesis, growth and drought resilience. It is expected that a first ever blueprint of the suite of communication networks used by the chloroplast will be discovered. Summary
A new paradigm for quantifying the resilience of marine calcifiers to ocean acidification and global warming. This multi-disciplinary research project will determine the future of coral reefs and marine calcifiers in response to rising carbon dioxide and ocean acidification. This will enable best-practice adaptive management at local and regional-scales for marine-dependent industries, and provide new hope for some of our greatest natural assets, coral reefs.
