A Game Changer? Alcohol and Women's Sport in Australia. This project aims to investigate emerging relationships between women and alcohol in Australian sport. We will examine the meanings that drinking may have for sportswomen and female fans, and identify new theoretical frameworks for rethinking drinking, gender and sport. Aboriginalia: Collecting Histories of Aboriginal Representation. Since Federation, non-Indigenous people have produced material objects for the home depicting Aboriginal bodies, artefacts and designs and marketing these as the truly Australian look. Since the 1960s, Aboriginal people started to collect these material objects, defined as 'Aboriginalia'. This interdisciplinary project aims to examine Aboriginal collectors' representations of 'Aboriginalia'. This is the first study to examine Abori ....Aboriginalia: Collecting Histories of Aboriginal Representation. Drowning is the third most common cause of death worldwide, and a subject of universal interest that is relatively limited in specifically cultural and political geographical research, policy, and debate. The project will be significant by rectifying that gap and investigating shared concerns about drowning’s abiding, widespread, profound effects. This project will continue and complete the original Historical Records of Australia Series originally supported by the Commonwealth Parliament Library, shortly after Federation, thus completing a great original Federation project and also provide vital historical documentation of historical processes continuing in this country.

This project aims to trace how ordinary people’s thinking about food safety has changed over time; from this, we can investigate food safety techniques and practices by government and industry. In studying Singapore, which has always imported nearly all food, the project expects to generate new lessons from Singapore's history that may widely apply in an era of globalisation and contemporary food system complexity. Cistercian Nuns in England c.1150-1550AD: A Gendered History of a Monastic Institution. This project re-writes the history not just of the previously ignored medieval Cistercian nun but of the medieval Cistercian monastic institution more broadly. Using English Cistercian women as case studies, it will produce two major breakthroughs. First, it will demonstrate that the history of the Cistercian religious order looks very different when analysed with issues of gender to the fore. The view that Australia was always a racially based society, pursuing racial policies to the detriment of indigenous Australians and our Asian neighbours, is subject to rancorous national debate.
