Cloud computing is a recent computing paradigm which can offer workflow with services via virtualised resources from the Internet. This project develops new technology with a novel cloud workflow architecture and its corresponding innovative mechanisms for managing millions of process instances effectively. The success of this project will build and foster long-term collaboration with the industry partner. The research conducted with this project will position Australia as a world leader in this area. The intellectual property resulting from project outcomes will potentially benefit many Australian organisations with similar nature for e-business like insurance and banking processes, and e-government like Medicare and Centrelink processes.Read moreRead less

taxonomies of subject domains and statistical matching in dynamically
varying contexts defined by changing personal preferences, tasks,
objectives and other characteristics. This project addresses formal
models of context and similarity based in applied lattice theory
(formal concepts), feature logic and statistical retrieval. Parallel
algorithms will be developed, analysed and benchmarked to enable
high-performance processing of vast numbers of heterogeneous objects
in a distributed knowledge web.Read moreRead less
Facilitating business process standardisation and reuse. One of the most pressing management challenges of today's organisations lies in the reuse and standardisation of best practices across different sectors, products or units. This project will develop an innovative open-source software platform and governance structure to efficiently and effectively support best practice standardisation and reuse.
Building Peer-to-Peer Middleware Infrastructure with Web Services. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) computing is a framework defining the interactions between systems acting as both clients and servers. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) computing is a framework defining the interactions between systems acting as both clients and servers. Web services technology is an evolving set of Web standards based on eXtensible Markup Language (XML), and is considered as the newest approach to distributed computing. In this project, we aim to build a new type of P2P architectural framework that is truly interoperable and distributed, being platform and language independent in an Internet-wide context. Using Web services and message queuing, this project also aims to develop a robust middleware infrastructure consisting of a set of tools and programming libraries to ease the development of verifiable P2P applications on heterogeneous platforms.Read moreRead less
Agent-Based Simulation - New Approaches for Design and Prototyping. The project will improve the capacity of Australian companies to bring products to market more quickly where there are complex trade-offs between interacting actors. The simulation guidelines will help understand interaction in complex systems and the identification of important factors in the air traffic domain. The research will also preserve the leading position of Australian technology for high quality simulations of air tra ....Agent-Based Simulation - New Approaches for Design and Prototyping. The project will improve the capacity of Australian companies to bring products to market more quickly where there are complex trade-offs between interacting actors. The simulation guidelines will help understand interaction in complex systems and the identification of important factors in the air traffic domain. The research will also preserve the leading position of Australian technology for high quality simulations of air traffic control. The new methods will help Australian SMEs using agent technology, of which there are several.Read moreRead less

Areas in which Australia has a large stake, including the development of new drugs, disease research, and agricultural genetic engineering, stand to benefit considerably from these advances. This contribution by Australian researchers to a global problem will have a positive impact on our own health industry, and will provide the foundation for improvements in agriculture and financial services.Read moreRead less

This project aims to co-design a social, interactive and visual internet search interface for people with intellectual disability. Enabling choice and independence is key to the new National Disability Insurance Scheme, but people with intellectual disability are effectively excluded from much of the Web. This project will investigate ways to access and provide information using technologies such as interactive avatars, virtual worlds and trusted social support. New interfaces will enable people with intellectual disability to inform themselves, make choices and foster their social inclusion. Expected outcomes are new search interface technology, a theoretical framework and new Web accessibility guidelines.Read moreRead less
Assistive technologies for autism support harnessing social media. This project aims to tap social media to revolutionize early intervention therapy for children with autism. By creating open, extensible software for therapy delivery, and tools for parents to access high quality information and support, we will provide children a greater chance to achieve their potential and much-needed relief for parents and carers.
Palladium Based Mobile Agent System for Collaborative Environments. This project aims to (a) develop a Palladium based mobile agent methodology and System for collaborative environments and to (b) construct a testbed that involves the creation of Palladium and mobile agent system to test it on "Virtual Community", that is, a real commercial application provided by our partner investigator for proof of concept.
CyberMate: using digital social media and Internet data to support mental health interventions in young Australians. This project will develop CyberMate, which is a novel automated psychological intervention based on data collected from social networks, personal diaries, natural language processing and machine learning techniques. The Internet-based intervention will be the first of its kind, helping young people affected by depression and other mental health issues.
