Urbanising Western China: Nation-building on the Sino-Tibetan frontier. This project aims to explore urbanisation as a key part of the Chinese Communist Party's policies in Tibet and the novel opportunities it affords for Tibetan identity, language, and culture. An international, multidisciplinary team will combine analysis of key government texts, interviews with government officials and ethnic minority elites, as well as observations of daily life amongst urban Tibetans. Over the last decade, people smuggling networks have grown substantially due to rising demand among asylum seekers and other migrants. Despite prevention campaigns and the criminalisation of people smuggling in Indonesia in 2011, people smuggling networks remain resilient and resistant to anti-people smuggling law enforce ....People smuggling in Indonesia: causes, pathways and responses . This project will update the understanding of political conflict by exploring groups based around shared opinions. It will show that groups are likely to be more successful in their political campaigns when they tie their causes to national and other positive identifies.

This project aims to study the relationship between Indigenous policy systems and foundational political relationships in Australia, the US, Canada and New Zealand via in depth case studies. Across all four states, policy struggles to substantively improve Indigenous wellbeing, but Australia has the poorest results and weakest formal political recognition. Expected outcomes include a new approach to understanding Indigenou ....Indigenous Policy and Political Relationships in Settler Colonial States.
