Establishing a missing link between the global nitrogen and carbon cycles - anaerobic methane oxidation coupled to denitrification. Methane is a strong greenhouse gas and currently accounts for 20 per cent of the total radioactive forcing in the atmosphere. This project investigates a previously unrecognized microbial process that oxidizes methane before it reaches the atmosphere. The project will deliver knowledge support to sustainable environmental management.

We converge a biomimetic design strategy inspired in the architecture of natural soft tissues and a novel additive manufacturing technology termed melt electrowriting (MEW) to manufacture advanced biomimetic soft network composites (BSNC). Events in nature occur at times, places and scales that are hard to witness, leading to human disconnection from nature. Investment in flexible learning options (FLOs) for young people who have disengaged from schooling requires understanding of how they work and evidence about their economic and social value. This project will provide both through innovative and integrated methods, analysing FLO sites across three Australian states and the Northern Territory.
Enhancing practice-based learning experiences: towards a curriculum, pedagogy and epistemology of practice. Workplaces are increasingly seen as essential sites for learning about occupations and continuing to be competent across working lives. Focussing on healthcare work, this project seeks to maximise and improve learning experiences in workplaces and integrate them effectively into educational programs to improve occupational competence.
