It will encourage open exchange of information and sharing of resources, development and implementation of coherent and integrated research plans among researchers working on topics of common interest. Summary
Oceans Law and Policy Library. This project will establish a library facility providing a comprehensive collection of international and domestic primary and secondary source materials in ocean law and policy. Materials will be both hard copy and electronic, facilitating access of materials from remote locations by partner institutions. The library will be located at the University of Wollongong, an international leader in oceans law and policy research, through the Centre for Maritime Policy. ....Oceans Law and Policy Library. This project will establish a library facility providing a comprehensive collection of international and domestic primary and secondary source materials in ocean law and policy. Materials will be both hard copy and electronic, facilitating access of materials from remote locations by partner institutions. The library will be located at the University of Wollongong, an international leader in oceans law and policy research, through the Centre for Maritime Policy. The partner universities are home to the principal centres of marine scientific research in Australia. The project will permit interdisciplinary work to be undertaken in oceans law, policy and science, allowing additional development of Australia's skill base in these fields.Read moreRead less

Developing a legal framework for Indonesia's participation in an internationally sanctioned scheme for reducing emissions from deforestation (and degradation). Global climate change is projected to have serious consequences for Australia. Innovative research to provide a legal framework for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (RED(D)) schemes in developing countries, including Indonesia, is needed. As Australia is likely to be the first country in the world to recognise 'offset ....Developing a legal framework for Indonesia's participation in an internationally sanctioned scheme for reducing emissions from deforestation (and degradation). Global climate change is projected to have serious consequences for Australia. Innovative research to provide a legal framework for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (RED(D)) schemes in developing countries, including Indonesia, is needed. As Australia is likely to be the first country in the world to recognise 'offset credits' from RED(D), under its proposed emissions trading scheme commencing in 2010-2011, the project will benefit Australia. The project will also support the Australian government's Global Initiative on Forests, including the Kalimantan Forests and Climate Partnership with Indonesia. This project aims to determine how this can be achieved by developing optimal ways of regulating alternative proteins. Alternative proteins imitate meat and dairy but are often made using new technologies. This project combines an innovative mix of empirical and legal analysis to understand the full range of expectations, opportunities and risks regarding alternative proteins and their regul ....Regulating the Future of Protein . It uses this new knowledge to determine how to regulate for healthy, sustainable and prosperous future food systems. The project will examine how to most effectively prevent sexual harassment and to reduce the impact of sexual harassment for individuals and organizations where it occurs.
