2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Dietary Approaches To Enhance Vascular Health

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $631,370.00
    Summary
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is responsible for one third of all deaths globally. Most CVD can be prevented by addressing behavioral risk factors, and it is widely accepted that increasing the intake of fruits, vegetables and whole grains could cut CVD risk and associated costs more than 25%. However, surprisingly little is known about the impact of individual foods and beverages and their components on vascular health, or the mechanisms involved. This is the prime research focus.

Early Interventions For Primary And Comorbid Substance Use In Young People: Engagement, Innovation, Technology And Translation

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $706,370.00
    Summary
Many young people with substance use problems do not seek, receive or respond to treatment. Innovative approaches to treatment are required. Leanne Hides leads a dynamic team of clinical researchers developing cutting-edge treatments to enhance young people’s wellbeing and resilience, and reduce risk factors for substance use. This positive approach will encourage help seeking, reduce substance use and improve the mental health and wellbeing of young substance users.

Developing And Implementing Proven Treatments And Systems Of Care In Stroke

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $873,684.00
    Summary
This fellowship will allow me to continue undertaking large-scale, multicentre, national and international, randomised controlled trials and population-based epidemiological studies focussed on the prevention and managment of acute stroke and other aspects of cardiovascular disease related to ageing populations. Much of my research is focussed on research and health policy of populations in Asia, particularly China, where i have had a sustained program of collaborative research over 10 years.

    Funding Amount
    $631,010.00
    Summary
My research aims to (1) find ways to minimise the impact of pancreatic cancer through improved prevention, diagnosis and management; (2) contribute to the vigorous international debate about the benefits of vitamin D and the best way to balance the harms and benefits of sun exposure.

Investigating Autism Spectrum Disorder: Causes And Efficacious Interventions

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $705,501.00
    Summary
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a growing public health concern, but we know little about the causes nor treatments for the condition. During the period of this Fellowship I will seek to make significant inroads into these unknowns, by performing large-scale international research into the genetic, biochemical and neurological causes of ASD, and conducting a series of clinical treatment trials in collaboration with research groups from across the world.

Improving The Outcomes Of Mothers And Babies Through Nutritional Interventions

    Funder

    Funding Amount
    $763,409.00
    Summary
Dr Makrides will undertake extensive investigations to determine optimal levels of a range of nutrients in the diet of pregnant women and preterm and term babies. The period from conception until 2 years after birth, the ‘first 1,000 days’, is designated by the World Health Organisation as the “window of opportunity” that is critical to ensuring a healthy start to life which in turn leads to improved long term health of the population.

    Research Fellowship

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $675,736.00
    Summary
Christine Roberts’ research program uses the most advanced research methods to address new challenges in maternal and child health in a portfolio that extends from bench-to-bedside-to-policy. Four interrelated themes target: accurate identification of at-risk pregnancies; maternity care requirements to improve outcomes in future pregnancies; clinical trials to provide best evidence for obstetric practice; and an improved ability to respond rapidly to emerging issues in policy and practice.

    Interventions For Improving Lung Health

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $938,413.00
    Summary
Lung disease is a major cause of death and disability world-wide. Tuberculosis was responsible for 1.4 million deaths in 2011. Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have been high priority diseases in Australia for many years. It was estimated that there were over 3 million deaths attributable to particulate air pollution in 2010. In this Fellowship I will undertake a series of projects designed to improve our understanding of these diseases and their causes.

    Research Fellowship

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $739,616.00
    Summary
In the Northern Territory, about twenty per cent of Indigenous children have perforated ear drums. Menzies research already shows medical treatments in high-risk Indigenous settings to be less effective than in non-Indigenous settings. I will lead an interdisciplinary team to develop, pilot, design and evaluate the effect of a comprehensive intervention program including best use of vaccines, reducing risk factors and maximising hygiene to prevent early age of first infection.
