This project will analyse data following people over time to investigate the long-term health and employment consequences of poor psychosocial job quality, and consider the special case of mature age workers. Currently, there is a lack of integration between emergency and mental health information systems. This means it is difficult for clinicians to comprehensively understand a patient’s interaction with other services – an important aspect when making treatment decisions. Our study will link 5 years of information from health, police and national death databases. This will identify areas where emergency services can be improved for vulnerable people seeking help for their mental health problem.
A prospective study investigating factors related to foster placement stability and the developmental outcomes of foster children. The study will aim to identify factors that influence the stability of placements and the developmental outcomes of children in foster care. The results of the study will have implications for the recruitment, training and support of foster carers. How do young Australians make the transition from adolescence to adulthood in the 21st century, and is it different for women and men? This project seeks to understand the life transitions, plans, and emotional wellbeing of young Australians, providing evidence to underlie policy that supports the wellbeing of all emerging adults.
Influences on farmer suicide in Queensland and New South Wales. Australian farmers have been identified as being at high-risk of suicide. This project will provide direction for targeted suicide prevention strategies by quantifying the individual and environmental factors that place farmers at higher risk of suicide, as well as the protective factors that may buffer against suicide and suicidal behaviours.
Promoting Positive Adolescent Psychosocial Development Through Enhancing School Connectedness: Evaluation of an innovative program for teachers. This project contributes to a research priority area of preventing psychosocial problems in adolescence. School connectedness, where students feel included and valued by the school, is a vital protective factor for adolescent well-being.
