Summary
Recognising the pain of others: gendered displacement, memory and identity in Bosnian refugee diaspora. The project examines the role of gender in forced migration and how violence against Bosnian women during the 1992-95 war has affected their settlement in Australia, Austria and the USA. The outcomes of the project will help guide the formulation of immigration/integration policy in these countries and facilitate better understanding of refugee women in diaspora.
Infertility, IVF and reproductive tourism in Thailand and the region. This project will deepen our knowledge of the cross-cultural issues involved in infertility and the transfer of assisted reproductive technologies in the Asian region. Australian IVF expertise and technology is exported overseas and the project will reflect upon the processes and dilemmas involved in this. Contraceptive technologies and reproductive choice among immigrant women. New immigrant and refugee women often have poor access to information, advice and support about contraceptive choices. Working with key immigrant and sexual health partner organisations, this project will identify ways to enhance choice and agency to ensure accessible services and optimal outcomes for women and their families.

This project aims to explore how the unresolved issue of the missing people from the 1992-95 Bosnian conflict has affected the social identities, memories and settlement patterns of the survivors in three diaspora contexts in Australia, Sweden and The United States. The ethnographic study expects to generate new knowledge in the area of forced migration and provide understanding of the complexity of the refugee condition in the afterm ....Missing people, missing stories in the aftermath of genocide. This project aims to explore how the unresolved issue of the missing people from the 1992-95 Bosnian conflict has affected the social identities, memories and settlement patterns of the survivors in three diaspora contexts in Australia, Sweden and The United States.
