Political history of the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Rights Act, 1983. The story of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (ALRA) that established the land councils, made provisions for land recovery and enterprises, and reshaped Aboriginal people's relationship with the state has not been told. The research will focus on punishment as an organising principle of schools and from empirical research, will construct a discourse within which discipline as power can be discussed. The research offers a new approach to investigations on the disciplinary practices of schools and challenges the concept of regimes of punishment as a necessary adjunct to learning.
