The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your
interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take
approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure
services including Reasearch Link Australia.
We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we
deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research
Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.
Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

A Consumer-centred Intervention Designed To Improve Healthy Lifestyle Behaviours And Weight Management In Preconception Women
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$318,768.00
Summary
Healthy weight before conception plays a crucial role in the health of future generations. Identifying unique preconception groups of women who are most likely to respond to and engage with health promotion programs will improve effectiveness of obesity prevention initiatives. This research will inform and develop a tailored preconception health promotion program that will address both individual and population needs- Australia’s first consumer-centred approach to preconception health promotion.
Reducing The Gap Right From The Start: Translating Effective Approaches To Prevent Child Obesity In Disadvantaged Families Into Primary Health Care Policy And Routine Practice.
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$108,376.00
Summary
The aim of this fellowship is to identify effective primary health care (PHC) based approaches to prevent obesity amongst children from disadvantaged families and understand the factors influencing the uptake of such approaches into routine PHC policy and practice. The findings will inform practice and policy decisions about the implementation of child obesity prevention programs within the Australian PHC system.
Studies of pregnant women are essential for determining new ways to improve the health of women and their infants. Information collected in these studies can answer many valuable questions, but only if used in the right way. This project will develop new statistical methods to make the most of information collected in these studies so that we can understand the true effects of a treatment and hence accurate health advice can be given to pregnant women.

The Common Risk Factor Approach To Assess Relationships Between Dental Caries And Adiposity In Disadvantaged Preschool Children
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$346,449.00
Summary
Dental decay and obesity in early childhood continues to be a significant health concern in Australian children. Current evidence suggests that these diseases are highly prevalent among children living in disadvantaged areas but the evidence of the relationship is limited. This increases their risk to carry the burden in adulthood. The present proposal uses a "common risk factor approach" to explore relationships between dental decay and obesity in disadvantaged preschool children in Australia.
Lifecourse Investigation Of Obesity And Adverse Cardiometabolic Health Outcomes: A Pooled Analysis Of Cohort Studies
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$393,278.00
Summary
Obesity cost Australia over $58 billion in 2008 alone. We are yet to identify any effective preventive strategies. Limited existing data suggests childhood factors (e.g., obesity) may have a long-term impact on health outcomes. The proposed study will examine the link between childhood factors and cardiovascular disease risk in adulthood in 4 studies that have collected biological and lifestyle factors from childhood to adulthood. This will lead to better understanding of such complex diseases.
Obesity During Pregnancy: How Can We Improve Health Outcomes For Women, Infants And Children?
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$376,449.00
Summary
Obesity is a common issue facing Australian women and has a role to play in health in pregnancy, birth and later life for the woman and her children.
