2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Patient-reported Outcomes And Treatment Preferences In 1,900 Men With Prostate Cancer Participating In Two International, Randomised Clinical Trials

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $318,768.00
    Summary
Men with high-risk or metastatic prostate cancer are faced with difficult and uncertain trade-offs between quantity and quality of life when making a treatment decision. The proposed study extends two promising, ongoing clinical trials by describing the quality of life outcomes and treatment.

Why Does Obesity Cause Obstructive Sleep Apnea?

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $333,644.00
    Summary
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is one of the most common complications of obesity and is independently associated with a reduced quality of life and cardiovascular disease. This project aims to identify the underlying factors linking obesity with OSA by examining how weight loss surgery can improve these factors. These important findings will contribute greatly to our understanding of OSA pathophysiology and are necessary to find better treatments for obesity-associated OSA.

Multidisciplinary Management Of Vertebral Metastases Identification Of Standardized Surgical Guidelines

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $358,604.00
    Summary
The spine is the commonest site of cancer spread to the skeleton and often leads to severe pain and paralysis. Recent advances in surgical techniques enable removal and reconstruction of all tumours of the spine. However, surgery remains controversial because of the need to weigh up the patient’s estimated length of survival with the risks of surgery. Our aims are to develop clear guidelines on which patients to perform surgery on, and what type of surgery to perform.

EXERTION: The EXERcise Stress Test CollaboratION

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $314,644.00
    Summary
An abnormal blood pressure (BP) response to a clinical exercise stress test is a signal for increased cardiovascular disease risk. However, current clinical guidelines do not provide evidence based information surrounding values that may constitute this increased risk. The EXERcise stress Test collaboratION (EXERTION) aims to fill this knowledge gap via establishment of a large, national database of exercise stress test results, linked to acute and chronic cardiovascular disease outcomes.

The Femoroacetabular Impingement Rehabilitation STudy (FIRST): A Participant And Assessor-blinded Randomised Controlled Trial Of Physiotherapy For Hip Impingement.

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $255,014.00
    Summary
Hip impingement is a common cause of hip and groin pain in adults. It is a risk factor for the development of hip arthritis and hip replacement surgery in later life. People with hip impingement have more pain and poorer quality of life (QoL) compared to population norms. This study will determine if physiotherapy can improve pain/QoL in people with hip impingement.

Informing Vaccination Strategies For Pregnant Women Through Linked Population Health Data

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $318,768.00
    Summary
Vaccination during pregnancy has health benefits for mothers and their infants; however, it is a relatively new area of research, and the immediate and long-term consequences for children are currently not well understood. As part of this fellowship, I plan to conduct research into the long-term health impacts of vaccination during pregnancy. This fellowship will build my career as a perinatal epidemiologist and establish expertise in Australia related to vaccines given during pregnancy.

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $307,946.00
    Summary
This project aims to make comparisons between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people in WA with respect to 1) the occurrence, clinical manifestations and outcomes of selected heart diseases (coronary heart disease, heart failure and dysrhythmias) and major associated co-morbidities and 2) access to acute and continuing medical care for these heart conditions.
