A historical study of modern Iran and its diaspora through the music, career and cultural significance of pop star Googoosh. The Iranian celebrity and cultural icon Googoosh has played a central role in the development of Iranian popular music. The project expects to generate new knowledge of vital, but hidden musical processes, using interdisciplinary approaches in order to rebalance and recalibrate the opera ecosystem.
