Summary
Multimedia Computing, Production, Management and Distribution for HDTV and its Applications. Australia is the first country to launch digital TV nationally. Increasingly, this platform will be used for consuming multimedia information; also the HDTV infrastructure is being applied to other domains such as telemedicine/e-Health to lower costs and improve effectiveness. Enriching digital history: new approaches to content development and delivery using the Dictionary of Sydney. The project will maximise the value of public investment in digital history resources by developing new methods of sharing and re-using content between systems and inviting and managing community participation. The research method is iterative and evolutionary: critique of existing literature, designs and technologies; repeated, rapid prototyping leading to test-exhibit; final critique of user-experience; report on knowledge generated.

Computers with multiple processors are now the norm and are used in a wide range of safety, security and mission critical software applications such as transport, health and infrastructure. These multi-core architectures have the potential to lead to important efficiency gains, but can introduce complex and error-prone behaviours that cannot be managed using traditional software development approaches.
