Chlamydia is a very common sexually transmissible infection that can lead to infertility in women. About 4% of young adults have it, yet most are unaware they have it. Chlamydia is easy to diagnose and treat, but it is not known whether annual testing can reduce its spread. Safe and accessible care for older survivors of psychological trauma. This project aims to improve the safety and accessibility of community aged care services for older survivors of psychological trauma, particularly those from diverse populations. We will co-design and test a practice framework that transforms the conceptual principles of trauma-informed care into actionable care behaviours and processes for implementation. Bad tastes, odours and toxins in our drinking water reservoirs: are benthic cyanobacteria the culprits? Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) produce toxins and bad tastes that contaminate drinking water sources, cause public concern about water quality. This project will address a critical knowledge gap by investigating species that grow on the sediments of reservoirs, thus providing more comprehensive management solutions to the water industry.
A Randomised Trial Of Rapid Point-of-care Tests For Chlamydia And Gonorrhoea Infections In Remote Aboriginal Communities

Summary
This project will trial a new kind of test for chlamydia and gonorrhoea that can provide immediate results at the time of clinical consultation. The trial will take place in remote Aboriginal communities. These tests have the potential to reduce re-infection rates by ensuring that people with infection have timely treatment. Health services will undertake standard practice in one year, and supplement standard practice by rapid point-of-care testing in the other year in a randomly assigned order.
