A Double Blind Randomised Placebo Controlled Trial Of Melatonin As An Adjuvant Agent In Induction Of Labour

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $384,566.00
    Summary
Induction of labour, a common obstetric intervention fails in almost 40% of first time mothers. There is evidence to suggest that the endogenous hormone melatonin has important roles in the progress of labour. We will undertake a double-blind randomised placebo controlled trial of melatonin supplementation to improve the success of induction of labour in first time mothers. We will also assess the economic impact of melatonin supplementation at induction of labour.

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $122,686.00
    Summary
The aim of this project is to determine whether melatonin supplementation has an effect on cumulative pregnancy and delivery rates, allowing for the use of frozen embryos obtained during a melatonin treatment cycle. This will be achieved by a series of experiments designed to investigate the effect of melatonin on follicular fluid and culture media as well as assessing clinical pregnancy rates and delivery rates.

Melatonin For Initial Insomnia In Stimulant-treated Pediatric ADHD

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $590,373.00
    Summary
Does melatonin work for children with ADHD and initial insomnia? We will study children with ADHD and initial insomnia using N-of-1 trials. This is a trial in a single person, which allows them the opportunity to learn if melatonin is effective for them.We will compare the usual clinical trials (RCTs, which do not give individual results) with combined results from all the 270 patients who have done N-of-1 trials. Data from the first part of each person’s n-of-1 trial will form the RCT.
