Dreaming Tracks and Trading Paths - a study of Aboriginal trading routes through Queensland. Aboriginal song lines and trade routes became the foundation for stock routes, coach ways and bitumen highways because successful European exploration used the expediency of Aboriginal guides who travelled along the routes already familiar to them. These routes are documented in instruments of land management such as churingas, toas or shields, and in the mnemotic memory of songs and stories. By reading ....Dreaming Tracks and Trading Paths - a study of Aboriginal trading routes through Queensland. This research integrates archaeological, documentary and oral evidence to investigate the dynamic relationships between Indigenous people and place over time in the Barunga region, Australia. By mapping the active construction of social landscapes by different groups in the same place, this project illuminates the webs of attachment between people, place and identity during periods of upheaval and change. By using performance studies approaches to analyse public political events this work will provide the practical benefit of increasing our understanding of how different cultures interpret and misinterpret each other in public encounters. Examining the dynamics that have and continue to operate between people and social discourses increases our understanding of ourselves as Australians and our ability to interpret ourselves. Four South Pacific Museums: New Museums and Public Culture. The last decade has witnessed a global explosion in the development of new museums. Nowhere is this more striking than in our region where four major new museum buildings opened between 1998 and 2001.

-How are they renovating their institutions through exhibitionary, architectural, technological, commercial and entertainment strategies?

This interdisciplinary project will generate significant publications, evaluate contemporary museum practices, enrich debate about the cultural and civic roles of museums, and contribute productively to imagining their future.

One such case, is Ngarrindjeri nation and its negotiations with local, State and Federal Government across a complex agenda, including caring for country, community leadership and governance, economic development, a community education strategy, and inter(national) coalition building. The need for understanding Anangu pedagogical approaches to transmission of knowledges is toward an Australian priority to develop schooling that upholds Indigenous interests. The structure of the project calls for a comprehensive literature review and data collection via interviews around Anangu Song-Cycle.
