    A novel foundation to extend the operation of mobile structures into deeper water. Oil and gas is a key industry in Australia, contributing A$17 billion to the economy. However, with the large accessible reserves in shallower waters becoming exhausted, Australian oil and gas companies require new technologies to extend their capabilities. The research in this proposal addresses this concern, providing an extension of the operational depth range of mobile jack-up platforms from 120 to 200 m. This .... A novel foundation to extend the operation of mobile structures into deeper water. Oil and gas is a key industry in Australia, contributing A$17 billion to the economy. However, with the large accessible reserves in shallower waters becoming exhausted, Australian oil and gas companies require new technologies to extend their capabilities. The research in this proposal addresses this concern, providing an extension of the operational depth range of mobile jack-up platforms from 120 to 200 m. This creates the opportunity to develop the significant number of Australia's smaller gas fields that are currently uneconomical to exploit. The proposed project will contribute to the future competitiveness of Australia's oil and gas industry and ensuring energy supply for the sustained growth of the Australian economy.

    Interface-specific facility for quantifying adsorption and structures at particulate interfaces. The facility will be used by the collaborating universities to investigate adsorption and interface properties with great precision, and to develop new and improved technologies for coal and mineral processing, saline water utilisation, water desalination, energy production and environment protection. In particular, the project will investigate innovative ways of using ion-interface interactions in .... Interface-specific facility for quantifying adsorption and structures at particulate interfaces. The facility will be used by the collaborating universities to investigate adsorption and interface properties with great precision, and to develop new and improved technologies for coal and mineral processing, saline water utilisation, water desalination, energy production and environment protection. In particular, the project will investigate innovative ways of using ion-interface interactions in saline water for cleaning coal and recovering value minerals by flotation, and for improving dissolved air flotation used in water treatment and desalination to produce drinking water. The project will further investigate novel ways of capturing CO2, storing natural gases and hydrogen, and tailoring nutrient nano-crystals for foliar delivery.

It is proposed to install a fully immersive three dimensional visualisation facility in Adelaide, at a cost of $5.3 million including requested ARC contribution of $696,005. Applicant Institutions (Adelaide, Flinders, UniSA and Curtin universities) and Industry will provide the remainder. The facility will support South Australia's leading scientific researchers in the sciences, engineering, business management, carbon dioxide sequestration, p .... South Australian Virtual Reality Centre (SAVRC). It is proposed to install a fully immersive three dimensional visualisation facility in Adelaide, at a cost of $5.3 million including requested ARC contribution of $696,005. Applicant Institutions (Adelaide, Flinders, UniSA and Curtin universities) and Industry will provide the remainder. The facility will support South Australia's leading scientific researchers in the sciences, engineering, business management, carbon dioxide sequestration, petroleum exploration and production, space environment, bioinformatics, architecture, surgery, dentistry, archaeology and arts. The facility will enable researchers and industry to significantly leverage other projects leading to much improved research outcomes and efficiency, potentially worth a hundred million dollars or more.
