2026 ARDC Annual Survey is now open!

The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure services including Reasearch Link Australia.

We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.

Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Developmental Stages Of Cardiovascular Risk Factors And Their Public Health Impact: A Life Course Perspective

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $380,558.00
    Summary
Using a life course approach, the aims of this study are to (a) investigate the developmental stages (pre-natal, childhood and adolescence) of cardiovascular (CVD) risk factors in young adulthood; (b) identify what is influencing these developmental stages either directly or indirectly and (c) quantify the public health burden of these stages and individual factors. Findings will enhance our understanding of the developmental stages of CVD and their public health burden.

Investigatin The Causes Of Failed Efferocytosis In COPD-emphysema With A View To Identifying Novel Theraputic Targets

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $380,558.00
    Summary
COPD is a leading cause of death. Smoking is the major cause of COPD and many sufferers are left with permanent damage and need ongoing treatment even after smoking cessation. Current treatments for COPD generally have limited efficacy. The project will identify the reason for the large number of dying cells and defective clearance of these cells that we have identified in the airways in COPD and study novel treatments that we hope will improve the health and well being of those with COPD.

Preventing Complications Of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $310,914.00
    Summary
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a devastating lung disease that affects smokers. Lung complications and complications in other organs occur commonly. This study will examine factors that lead to exacerbations of COPD, and test the effectiveness of early diagnosis of coronary artery disease using CT scans.

Understanding And Optimising The Delivery Of Chronic Disease Care For Better Cardiovascular Outcomes

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $483,402.00
    Summary
The proposed research program will undertake research that utilises existing clinical information and structures. This information will provide evidence in a cost effective manner. A particular project will examine current treatment delivered to people with chronic disease. A second project will embed a study of the optimum level of sodium exposure in dialysis within routine clinical practice. The outcome will be a cost-efficient study that will potentially lead to improve outcomes.

Advancing Population-based Approaches To Physical Activity Participation In Rural Communities

    Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $443,964.00
    Summary
Nationally the public health burden of inactive lifestyle is increasing; yet no research is being conducted in rural areas. My research will contribute new knowledge on best-practice physical activity programs designed to reach and meet the needs of people in rural areas. This is an innovative extension of my previous research that has produced programs that reduce the burden of chronic disease risk factors, by helping people to achieve optimal health and well-being through physical activity.
