ARC Future Fellowships - Grant ID: FT100100764

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $699,512.00
    Summary
Developing methods for the analysis of massively parallel sequencing data in family studies. This project will develop analytical methods to use the latest, high-throughput method of generating sequencing data, i.e. the letters of the human genome alphabet. These tools will be used to identify the causal mutations in families with inherited disorders, leading to diagnostic tests for these families.

ARC Future Fellowships - Grant ID: FT120100086

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $787,989.00
    Summary
Understanding the molecular mechanisms of intellectual disability. Intellectual disability is frequent in the population, with one in every fifty people in the world directly affected. This project will improve our understanding of the correct development and function of the brain required for cognition by investigating specific roles and regulation of key molecules involved.

ARC Future Fellowships - Grant ID: FT100100725

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $813,192.00
    Summary
Perceptual suppression mechanisms in the Drosophila brain. This project will investigate common processes underlying three means to losing conscious perception: selective attention, sleep and general anaesthesia. By studying these suppression mechanisms in a genetic model, the fly Drosophila melanogaster, fundamental processes will be highlighted that are required in the brain for maintaining perception in general.

Discovery Projects - Grant ID: DP120104117

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $285,000.00
    Summary
Role of micro-RNAs in learning and memory of insects. This project will investigate how small molecules in the brain, so-called micro RNAs, regulate processes underlying learning and memory formation. The outcomes will provide new knowledge on the specific function of these molecules in the brain, and help us understand their role in cognitive disorders such as autism and schizophrenia.

Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment And Facilities - Grant ID: LE110100068

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $240,000.00
    Summary
Mass spectrometry platform for high throughput genotyping, epigenetic analysis and validation of genome wide sequencing studies. This facility will provide a platform for Australian researchers to quantitatively measure genetic information in a rapid, accurate and cost-efficient manner. This technology will enhance Australia's ability to perform basic research into the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of cellular function.

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $400,000.00
    Summary
Western Australian Zebrafish Facility. Zebrafish facility: The zebrafish as a model vertebrate organism is fast approaching the importance of the laboratory mouse. This facility will enable the research community to fully embrace the zebrafish as a powerful research tool.
