This project addresses how creativity and innovative thinking can be nurtured in Australian secondary schools, to help learners better meet the needs of emerging twenty-first century creative economies, particularly as they are developing in the Asia-Pacific region. This project addresses this imperative by seeking to define, measure and cultivate creativity in Australian schools and, ultimately, to develop a new theoretical framework with which to compare these findings internationally. Venture philanthropy in public education: governance, policy and practice. The aim of this study is to investigate the efficacy of philanthropic public-private partnerships to improve equity in public education, focusing on school resourcing and achievement gaps. Child safety in cars: an international collaboration. Car crashes are the leading cause of child death in Australia. While child restraints offer good protection, their benefits are significantly diminished if used incorrectly. This project will examine children’s out-of-position during car trips and injury implications and will reduce injury through improved engineering and education solutions.
A comparative analysis of gambling regulation in Australian states and territories. This project will be the first systematic and comprehensive evaluation of Australian gambling regulation. Research is in response to incidents of regulatory failure, fragmentation and inconsistency in the gambling regulatory frameworks of states/territories and calls by the Productivity Commission for rigorous and independent review. It will develop an evaluative framework to analyse current gambling regulations, ....A comparative analysis of gambling regulation in Australian states and territories. Multiculturalism and governance: evaluating arts policies and engaging cultural citizenship. This project examines the capacity of multicultural arts to promote a sense of belonging within culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Through its study of arts policy, production, and consumption at three levels of government it will generate a new framework for evaluating the significance of multiculturalism.
Economic and social rights of asylum seekers in Australia: Challenges for Community Associations. This project will investigate the contribution of a community association providing humanitarian assistance to newly-arrived refugees holding Temporary Protection Visas (TPV). The project will assess the capacity of non-government organizations (NGOs) in delivering basic social services and identifying areas of immediate concern. Are the kids alright? Understanding the wellbeing of Australian children in their middle years. This project will produce the first comprehensive national stock-take of wellbeing among Australian children in their middle years, with a special focus on children who experience disadvantage. Findings will reflect children's views and experiences, have direct policy relevance and lay the groundwork for comparing and monitoring of child wellbeing.
Enhancing Children's Journey in Out-of-Home Care:A Multi-perspective Study .
