Deep Timetable: A Noongar Rail History. This project aims to clarify the impact of the railway on Noongar people and Country. Rail infrastructure across south-western Western Australia exploited an older network of Aboriginal pathways; dislocated Noongar families found relocation through rail employment. Remote presence for guidance on physical tasks. This project aims to transform remote collaboration on physical tasks. Current systems for remote collaboration on physical tasks are not as effective as working face-to-face. This could be overcome by sharing non-verbal cues, designing systems to account for cultural issues, and using a new model of communication. Yolngu women keening of songspirals: nourishing and sharing people-as-place. This project aims to extend a close collaborative relationship with Yolngu researchers to nourish and, where appropriate, share Indigenous and Country-led understandings of women’s keening of songspirals. The project’s unique spiral-based framework intends to extend ideas of songlines to generate new knowledge that centres Yolngu women’s conceptions of place and time. Intended outcomes are Indigenous and non-Indigenous ....Yolngu women keening of songspirals: nourishing and sharing people-as-place. Transforming Tourists' Antarctic Experience. With the Antarctic tourist industry currently growing and diversifying, the project aims to discover how cruise operators can foster positive and culturally informed relationships with the region among visitors of different national backgrounds. Through extensive in-situ fieldwork with partner Intrepid Travel, the project expects to generate new understandings of how operators' active mediating role combines with multisensory experience of Antarctica ....Transforming Tourists' Antarctic Experience. With the Antarctic tourist industry currently growing and diversifying, the project aims to discover how cruise operators can foster positive and culturally informed relationships with the region among visitors of different national backgrounds. This project aims to understand how socially marginalised Thai gay men and transgenders draw on Buddhist healing traditions as alternative and complementary therapies in dealing with HIV/AIDS and other health emergencies. Through case studies undertaken in several culturally diverse Thai regions, this project expects to provide comparative insight into the intersections of religion and health in Asian societies suffering HIV epidemics ....Religion, Ritual and Health in HIV-Affected Thai Communities. Empowering vulnerable youth in Australia by combatting linguistic racism. This project aims to investigate how culturally and linguistically diverse young Australians experience discrimination in their daily lives because of how they speak.The project will generate new knowledge addressing the critical need to review the linguistic disparity experienced by bi/multilingual speakers.
