Reconceptualising the information system as a service. Through parallel efforts in Australia and China, the study aims to propel 'IS-Impact', the Australia-originated and most extensively validated IS success measurement model, to become the Information Systems evaluation approach of choice globally, in both research and practice.

Conceptualizing and Measuring Digital Service Quality. The project aims to understand customer quality perceptions of digital services, and the factors, such as customer's own skill-levels, that help people to optimise their experiences. Public and private organisations are pushing customers from face-to-face to digital service and self-service models, sometimes offering no alternatives (eg many travel visas can only be obtained online). E-commerce research suggests up to 80 per cent of service users will sometimes struggle with online transactions. In the worst case, people may be excluded from accessing important services. Insights from this research are expected to help public and private organisations to deliver high-quality digital services that empower service users.Read moreRead less

Raising people's awareness of healthy and ecological food options with nutritional data and educational information does not foster a sustained practice towards a more environmentally friendly food culture. This study seeks to develop a better understanding how to go beyond just informing and into supporting and sustaining action and change. Drawing on interaction design, ubiquitous computing and real- time information, the study will deliver research findings that inform viable new design approaches and information interfaces which will strengthen Australia's position to resolve the problems of obesity, malnutrition and ecological issues of mass food processing, and contribute to the sustainability of life in Australian cities.Read moreRead less

Designing process models to support communication and decision-making. This project will develop guidelines to assist analysts in describing business processes by identifying theoretical factors of process model quality. The outcomes will make it easier to make informed decisions about process re-design, business innovation or software development, thus contributing to project cost savings and better processes.
Transforming Banking Service Delivery Through Connected Communities. This project aims to develop a deeper understanding of the potential that the increased connectedness between customers has for organisations in the services sector. The massive uptake of social technologies demonstrates the high demand for connectedness. However, to date corporations and their customers have insufficient means to utilise such communities. Using the banking sector as an example, the project's outcomes intend to ....Transforming Banking Service Delivery Through Connected Communities. The massive uptake of social technologies demonstrates the high demand for connectedness. However, to date corporations and their customers have insufficient means to utilise such communities. Using the banking sector as an example, the project's outcomes intend to show how digital communities can improve the delivery of services and facilitate new co-delivery and brokerage models.Read moreRead less
Information Systems (IS)-Impact utility and intuitiveness: a rigorous approach to relevance. This study aims to evaluate the key elements of models used in design science to assess the impact of information systems. The work will examine the extent to which rigour and relevance are incorporated into these models.

Reducing the environmental impact and increasing the environmental sustainability of organisations is a priority for Australia. Technology is meant to assist in this challenge, but knowledge is lacking about how information systems can meaningfully assist organisations in becoming sustainable. The goal of this project is to develop and test a theory of Green Information Systems, which describes design principles for information systems that allow organisations to engage in sustainability sense-making and implement sustainable practices. The outcomes are expected to assist in the development of systems to support sustainability initiatives, the management of sustainability programs, and the reduction of organisations' environmental footprint.Read moreRead less

This project aims to identify approaches to enable firms to find and introduce ideas through open innovation. Open innovation, with its focus on external sources of ideas, is a promising approach for increasing organisational innovation. While uptake of open innovation is on the increase, the lack of understanding of practices and technologies used to successfully introduce it into firms, limits its usefulness and results in wasted resources. This project aims to investigate open innovation and relevant technologies to identify success factors for the idea generation and assessment phases of open innovation, develop guidelines for their application, identify effective technologies and related recommendations for use, and quantify their impact on innovation.Read moreRead less

Guaranteeing information security is of critical national importance, especially in the current political climate. Devices intended to safeguard Australia's electronic communications must be proven secure using leading-edge techniques. Currently, evaluation of such devices relies on informal procedures and the experience of individuals. This project will introduce more rigour into security evaluations by adapting techniques from the fields of safety analysis and formal methods. In particular, mathematical concepts will be introduced using notations suitable for use by security personnel with no prior formal methods experience. The outcomes of this project will enable more efficient and effective information security evaluations.Read moreRead less
