The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your
interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take
approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure
services including Reasearch Link Australia.
We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we
deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research
Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.
Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

The offshore outsourcing of business processes is a new, largely unexplored and under-theorised area that is placing great pressure on Australian organisations. This research aims to develop models of best practice for offshoring by Australian organisations through a series of cases studies commencing with the industry partner, Repcol Limited. The research will identify what business processes are core, what processes can be offshored, whether to use third parties or have captive operations, and what factors need to be addressed in order to utilise offshoring to strengthen Australian organisations and enable them to take advantage of global strategic opportunities for growth.Read moreRead less

This research develops a web-based visual database and catalogue with associated, annotatable explanatory text files, that is suitable for input and access by academics, industry and the general community. The catalogue’s information input and search mechanisms will respond to the needs of relevant Humanities disciplines for which image collection and analysis is a critical research tool. Its design aims to encourage user communities to contribute images and text efficiently, effectively and confidently, and guarantees the security of their images through application of a tag system. The collaboratively authored image catalogue would facilitate national and international research projects using visual resources.Read moreRead less
A Commercially Viable, Innovative XML - Enabled Association Rule Framework. The pervasive nature of the Web has raised two important issues, namely (1) how to exchange data between isolated information systems within two different companies with their own data formats and (2) how to store information particularly documents, so that they can be accessed through the internet based on their meaning. The Extended Markup Language XML has emerged as the favoured means of addressing these issues and this is leading to an explosive growth in the information stored in this way. This project addresses the issue of determination of patterns and knowledge in information stored in XML through datamining.Read moreRead less
Next generation global navigation satellite systems ambiguity resolution. In the next five years, four new satellite-based navigation and positioning systems, called Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), will come to challenge/complement the well-known US global positioning system (GPS). In order to get the highest accuracy and most reliable results from these GNSSs, a procedure known as ambiguity resolution (AR) is essential. This collaborative project will bring Professor Peter Teunissen, the inventor of the famous LAMBDA method that is currently used in all GPS AR software, to Australia to work on AR for a combined new GNSS AR solution that is also optimised for Australian users. Computational tools to analyse and exploit the social media revolution. We aim to create technologies to analyse social media communities, which are rapidly growing in reach, complexity, and content produced and shared. Powerful techniques to tap this resource will lead to commercial outcomes for marketing and search industries, alongside deeper insight into the cultural and social impact of this Internet revolution.

Access to knowledge is a basic tenant for the advancement of science, and the efficient exchange of information is of fundamental importance. The electronic definition of data in science remains remarkably chaotic and uncoordinated, posing obstacles to data interoperability. This research provides a general approach to the coalescence of enormous and diverse data collections making them accessible to modern data mining techniques. We will automatically build active knowledge bases from semantically rich ontologies. The outcomes will be both conceptual and practical, with the creation of an interoperability management model, and the development of exemplar ontologies and databases in molecular biology and in taxonomy, plus associated implementation and access tools.Read moreRead less
Palladium Based Mobile Agent System for Collaborative Environments. This project aims to (a) develop a Palladium based mobile agent methodology and System for collaborative environments and to (b) construct a testbed that involves the creation of Palladium and mobile agent system to test it on "Virtual Community", that is, a real commercial application provided by our partner investigator for proof of concept.
Assistive technologies for autism support harnessing social media. This project aims to tap social media to revolutionize early intervention therapy for children with autism. By creating open, extensible software for therapy delivery, and tools for parents to access high quality information and support, we will provide children a greater chance to achieve their potential and much-needed relief for parents and carers.
