The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your
interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take
approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure
services including Reasearch Link Australia.
We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we
deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research
Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.
Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Internal capital markets, divisional rent-seeking and optimal incentives: theory and evidence. There exists a considerable gap between real-world economic organizations and the economic theory of the firm. This project provides formal theories of resource allocation within multidivisional corporations and the nature of optimal incentives, thereby contributing to fill this gap. The project is expected to produce highest-quality research publishable in top-tier journals. This will, among others, enhance Australia's standing as a knowledge nation. Additional benefit comes from the possibility of longer term collaborative research between Monash University and the University of Bristol, and possible research collaboration between Australian and British economists that goes beyond the two institutions. The aim is to design nanosized TiO2 photocatalsysts with superior photoactivity using various synthesis paths. Nanosized TiO2 particles will be prepared using sol-gel, aerosol and plasma processing, their physical and chemical properties will be closely studied and their photocatalytic ability will be assessed. Such tailor-made photocatalysts have significant commercial potential value, as they would be highly suitable for the photooxidation of organic compounds and the photoreduction of metal ions in wastewaters. Findings from this work will pave the way for a "green" technology such as photocatalysis to become more efficient and hence a competitive alternative to conventional water treatment methods.Read moreRead less

Unlike the traditional methods of the petrochemical industry, bioconversion of carbohydrates to chemicals such as succinic acid via fermentation is cosiderably environmental friendly. For the sugar industry this project will provide an opportunity to produce not only conventional sugar products but also high value commodities via the process integration of succinic acid production using agricultural residues such as bagasse. This will contribute to significant levels of job creation in Australia, and further benefits will be that such products will be important both for import replacement and export potential.Read moreRead less

Displacement-based assessment of the seismic resistance of unreinforced masonry buildings. Earthquakes have caused over $1,000 billion of damage and more than 100,000 deaths in the last decade. This devastation occurred mainly in unreinforced brick masonry (URM) buildings which constitute the bulk of the domestic building stock in low seismicity regions, including Australia. Earthquakes have caused over $1,000 billion of damage and more than 100,000 deaths in the last decade. This devastation occurred mainly in unreinforced brick masonry (URM) buildings which constitute the bulk of the domestic building stock in low seismicity regions, including Australia. These buildings were designed to resist forces, not the displacements, caused by earthquake ground shaking. This project will develop a new displacement-based method for assessing the earthquake resistance of URM buildings. Research outcomes will be in the form of improved analytical methods for the design of new buildings and the seismic assessment and retrofit of existing buildings.Read moreRead less

In today's dynamic changing environment, for industries to remain internationally competitive, traditional manufacturing techniques used for welding have to become more flexible and intelligent to attain better adaptability and higher productivity. In industrial applications of MIG/MAG welding processes, various types of shielding gases are used based on type of work material and weld quality required. In this proposed research, experimental studies will be conducted on welding productivity by using different shielding gas combinations. The aim of this project is to conduct experimental analysis on weld arc phenomenon, weld pool behavior, and weld quality and to build an intelligent system for the selection of optimum combination shielding gas mixtures. In addition this study also aims to examine how the microstructure and mechanical properties of different welds are influenced by the use of different shielding gases combinations.Read moreRead less
Composite cathode Materials for Lithium Ion Battery Using Chemical Coating Technique. Commercial Li-ion batteries have LiCoO2 as a cathode material due to its excellent cycle stability and rate capability. Although many methods from many disciplines have been used, somewhat imperfectly, to examine knowledge creation and knowledge networks, the most accepted method in economics and strategy is patent citation analysis. Yet, even users of the methodology recognize that it is an imperfect measure of innovation, innovativeness and network linkages between innovations. The study sets up a methodology to examine the relationship between citations and network interactions between patent applicants. The value of the research is in providing a better measure of innovation and knowledge and in the normative lessons about establishing better scientific networks.Read moreRead less

The depletion of oil reserves and the effects of global warming make the development of new, clean, sustainable fuel production systems critically important. This frontier technology has the ability to drive solar-powered hydrogen production from water. Extending the system to marine algal cells provides the possibility of coupling clean fuel production with water purification as the product of H2 combustion is pure water. We have already engineered green algae that produce H2 from H2O at a rate ~1000% higher than the Wild-type and through this project will incorporate further improvements with the aim of developing a competitive H2 production system.Read moreRead less
