ARC Future Fellowships - Grant ID: FT120100228

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $539,768.00
    Summary
Development of methods and algorithms to support multidisciplinary optimisation. This project will aim to develop a number of novel and computationally efficient schemes to deal with the key challenges facing multidisciplinary optimisation. These advancements will allow us to solve a number of challenging and intractable problems in science and engineering.

Unifying Modern Approaches in Machine Learning. The proposed research will lead to better algorithms for some important machine learning problems that could lead to better tools for extracting useful knowledge from data such as in bioinformatics and sensor networks; it will strengthen an international collaboration with one of the world's top centres of machine learning research; it will contribute to an open source toolkit of machine learning algorithms which will put Australia on the map as a .... Unifying Modern Approaches in Machine Learning. The proposed research will lead to better algorithms for some important machine learning problems that could lead to better tools for extracting useful knowledge from data such as in bioinformatics and sensor networks; it will strengthen an international collaboration with one of the world's top centres of machine learning research; it will contribute to an open source toolkit of machine learning algorithms which will put Australia on the map as a provider of sophisticated machine learning software; it will provide training opportunities for several PhD students and a postdoc to work with some of the best machine learning researchers in the world.

Discovery Early Career Researcher Award - Grant ID: DE120101761

    Funder
    Australian Research Council
    Funding Amount
    $375,000.00
    Summary
Solving intractable problems: from practice to theory and back. By analysing how theoretically intractable problems are solved in practice by highly optimised software solvers, this project aims at a better theoretical understanding of these problems. The gained mathematical insights will then be used to stimulate the development of new and improved software solvers.
