Reconfigurable System-on-Chip for Computer Network Appliances. As Internet connectivity becomes ubiquitous, so does the need for computer network security. As algorithms become more sophisticated, and network speeds increase, software-only implementations of network security applications become less feasible on small, embedded network appliances. This project investigates new computer architectures, based on reconfigurable System-on-Chip technology, which can improve algorithm speed through specialised instruction sets, hardware accelerators, and parallel processing. Research outcomes will be commercialised by the project's industry partner - a global leader in low-cost network security appliances.

Results of our research will generalise to manufacturing, defence, aviation, and medicine. Given the focus on anaesthesia in this proposal, our research may help to make anaesthesia safer for pa .... Given the focus on anaesthesia in this proposal, our research may help to make anaesthesia safer for patients and easier for anaesthetists to administer. With this research, an Australian group will enhance its international lead in the area of innovative interfaces for safety critical applications. The proposed research should lead to further inventions that have the potential to benefit Australian industry.

    Mixture models for high-dimensional clustering with applications to tumour classification, network intrusion, and text classification. This project will benefit the Australian Society as a whole by developing statistical methodology for the clustering of high-dimensional data. In particular, it will develop a novel and efficient model for extracting useful information from subpopulations. It thus has wide applicability to improving the quality and validity of applied research in most industries .... In particular, it will develop a novel and efficient model for extracting useful information from subpopulations. More specifically, it is to be applied here to classify brain tumours and detect network intruders. This cross-disciplinary project will contribute to Australia's economic of public health, protect Australia from crime, and strength Australian researchers' capacity and capability of participating in this emerging science.

Recent preliminary collaboration by the chief investigators has uncovered a novel approach to this problem based on powerful mathematical lattice theory. The techniques have potential to significantly increase bandwidth and reliability compared to current technologies. This project will use lattice theory to pr ....
