This will provide significant benefits, such as allowing those across government and industry to make more informed decisions from data.Read moreRead less
The Central Australian Heart Protection Study: A Randomised Trial Of Nurse-Led, Family Based Secondary Prevention Of Acute Coronary Syndromes
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$1,923,630.00
Summary
Despite the high burden of cardiovascular diseases among Indigenous Australians, few intervention trials have sought to evaluate novel approaches to reducing differential outcomes in this vulnerable group. The Central Australian Heart Protection Study seeks to test the effectiveness of a nurse-led, family based education and assessment program in reducing the incidence of poor outcomes in indigenous and non-indigenous patient’s following an Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).

This project aims to determine the best ways to communicate wine research and to design tools to support research adoption. Adoption of research relies on effective use of information and technology by employees. Research into employees’ information practices in the workplace has been conducted in health care, education and other areas; however, the wine industry’s use of information and technology for adoption is unexplored. The project plans to assess the strategies used to share research with winemakers and grape growers (e.g. seminars, websites, social media), from information behaviour or web useability perspectives, to ensure industry needs are met appropriately. This research aims to have a direct and immediate impact on the wine industry. In addition to the immediate impact of new research innovations that will be implemented by our partner wine companies, the project will also change industry-wide approaches to extension. The partner organisations use extension strategies to showcase new innovations and our research will assess these organisations’ current practices, providing evidence to shape the design of future activities in Australia.Read moreRead less

Test bed for wide-area software defined networking research: This project aims to develop a wide-area test bed, spanning ten organisations, for conducting research and experimentation in the emerging disruptive technology of Software Defined Networking (SDN). SDN is likely to bring long-term transformation to the networking industry, much like cloud computing did, by enabling dynamic virtualised elastic network services under software control. The test bed will empower Australian researchers in network technologies and dependent applications (for example, multimedia and security) to collaboratively develop and demonstrate novel ideas at scale. This is expected to benefit Australia by giving our researchers international recognition in this nascent area, and developing a national talent pool for local industry.Read moreRead less

This project aims to create technologies for automatically repackaging, interpreting, and aggregating software development activity. The project will devise new natural-language summarisation approaches and productivity metrics that use all data available in a software repository. This is likely to lead to knowledge and tools that allow organisations to quickly integrate new developers into existing software projects, to improve project awareness, and to increase productivity goals. The outcomes would include a comprehensive decision and awareness support system for software projects, based on automating the creation and continual updating of developer activity summaries and measures.Read moreRead less

Pathways to health and wellbeing through housing: a new causal understanding of relationships, processes and interventions. Does housing make Australians healthier or less healthy, how can we target housing assistance so that it improves individual health and wellbeing? This research answers these questions, it develops new methods for understanding the complex causal relationship between housing and health, and evidence of how housing can improve health and wellbeing.
Closing the housing gap: a spotlight on intergenerational inequalities. This project aims to use never-before analysed combinations of datasets and new data on Australian housing conditions to model the consequences of unequal access to housing and housing wealth among Australians, and to evaluate both individual and national benefits of housing interventions across generations. The consequences of unequal access to housing are different for current and future generational cohorts. This project ....Closing the housing gap: a spotlight on intergenerational inequalities. The consequences of unequal access to housing are different for current and future generational cohorts. This project expects to reveal the drivers and health consequences of the intergenerational housing gap. Research-based insights on the intergenerational housing crisis will benefit almost all Australians affected by the unprecedented costs of ownership and renting.Read moreRead less
