By evaluating the school-based program, Learn to BE SAFE with Emmy™ developed by ACT for Kids, this multi-site, Queensland project will use innovative methods to guide efforts to prevent child abuse. Should I stay or should I go? Increasing natural disaster preparedness and survival through animal attachment. This project will determine the extent to which people's willingness to risk their lives to save animals during natural disasters could be reinterpreted as a protective factor by motivating preparedness. This information will be used to create effective public health campaigns designed to increase natural disaster preparedness and save lives.
Coping in the face of life adversity. A model of resilience for stroke survivors. Little is known about the resilience processes of adults, particularly following severe and chronic illnesses. The purpose of this study is to address this lack in knowledge by testing a model of resilience following stroke. Outcomes will be used to develop educative and preventative programs for adults and also to assist a higher percentage of stroke survivors to adapt better to their changed lives.
