This project will provide valuable information on the basic mechanisms associated with the vascular actions of the hormone relaxin that has shown great promise in clinical trials as a novel treatment for heart failure.

Improving methods of grading, transferring and facilitating translation of knowledge in population health. This project will develop methods by which research in population health can be better used by policy makers. It will develop a grading system to assist research consumers to work out the best evidence. Interviews and surveys of policy makers will be conducted to work out how to optimise the way the best evidence can be used in practice.
In vivo Assessment of Radiation Dose from Inhalation of Radioactive Dust in the Mining and Milling of Radioactive Ores. The project will use a combination of in vivo gamma-ray spectrometry measurements and modelling to determine quantities of retained radioactive materials in mine workers exposed to long-lived radioactive dust and the radiation doses from those materials. These studies will provide better indications of dose in a range of mining environments. Ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography ion trap mass spectrometer to develop new capabilities in environmental and human toxicology. This facility will be dedicated to developing methods and analyses of environmental contaminants and by-products that are currently not well understood. Having this analytical capability will underpin leading research in environmental toxicology and chemistry, and will help to minimise environmental and human exposure to harmful contaminants.
A biopsychosocial model of exercise dependence, steroid use and disordered eating among adolescent boys. Recent evidence suggests that hazardous body change strategies adopted by adolescent boys are a major problem. This study validates a biopsychosocial framework to explain the development of exercise dependence, steroid and food supplement use, and disordered eating among at risk adolescent boys. A longitudinal experimental design will be employed.
