Sexual ageing in the history of medicine, 1774-2018. Breaking Down Tradition: Women in male-dominated work, 1840-2000. Using historical analysis, this project aims to illuminate the endurance of sex-segregated work over more than 150 years. It plans to focus on particular occupations in Britain and Australia to identify the processes and agents of change and document the experiences of women. Universities and Postwar Recovery 1943-57. This project aims to investigate the impact and transformative effect of the university education-led recovery in postwar Australia from 1943 to 1957. It will do so by undertaking a collective biographical survey of 6,500 ex-service men and women university graduates funded under the Commonwealth Reconstruction Training Scheme. It expects to generate new knowledge in the area of Australian history, especially the history of war repatriation, the develop ....Universities and Postwar Recovery 1943-57. This project aims to create the first history of survivor-activism that challenged and exposed failings in Australian child welfare systems. It intends to reveal how Care Leavers (people institutionalised as children—500,000+ Australians in the 20th century alone) advocated for government inquiries and reforms, and how stigma ascribed to them impacted their disparate experiences of citizenship. Expected outcomes include ....Care Leaver Activism & Advocacy: From Deficit Models To Survivor Narratives. This project aims to create the first history of survivor-activism that challenged and exposed failings in Australian child welfare systems. Indigenous peoples have always undertaken extensive travel and movement, but colonisation brought new reasons for travel and new Indigenous peoples from New Zealand and the Pacific to Australia. Historians have not yet fully grappled with these histories. These migrations and journeys always traversed Indigenous geographies. Bringing Indigenous perspectives and ethical methodologies to an analysis of mobilities, we aim to ....Indigenous mobilities to and through Australia: agency and sovereignties.
