The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) invites you to participate in a short survey about your
interaction with the ARDC and use of our national research infrastructure and services. The survey will take
approximately 5 minutes and is anonymous. It’s open to anyone who uses our digital research infrastructure
services including Reasearch Link Australia.
We will use the information you provide to improve the national research infrastructure and services we
deliver and to report on user satisfaction to the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research
Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program.
Please take a few minutes to provide your input. The survey closes COB Friday 29 May 2026.

Identifying Mechanisms Of Resistance To Novel Hormonal Agents In Patients With Castrate-resistant Prostate Cancer
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$420,004.00
Summary
I am a medical oncologist focused on prostate cancer, a disease which kills over 3000 Australian men every year. Recent studies have shown that new hormone treatments help men with advanced prostate cancer live longer. Unfortunately, while these drugs are effective when first started, prostate cancers eventually become resistant to them and start growing again. By looking at why these drugs stop working, I hope to find better treatments for Australian men with advanced prostate cancer.
Contribution Of The Peri-renal Environment To Kidney Disease
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$335,008.00
Summary
This proposal will investigate the peri-renal adipose tissue phenotype and if factors derived from this local adipose tissue depot can influence kidney function
Focimatrix Regulation Of Sex Steroid Hormones In The Ovary
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$291,309.00
Summary
Sex steroid hormones (e.g. oestrogen and testosterone), are important to male and female health. In the ovarian follicle I identified a novel form of extracellular matrix (focimatrix) which develops in the ovary before the synthetic enzymes needed for sex steroids are present. Using evidence from other tissues, I developed ideas on how this matrix regulates the enzymes for hormone synthesis. I will examine a mechanism by which focimatrix could directly affect steroid hormone production.
Central Ghrelin Regulates Peripheral Glucose Metabolism
Funder
National Health and Medical Research Council
Funding Amount
$339,938.00
Summary
Recent evidence shows ghrelin is a key anti-starvation hormone that increases glucose production in order to maintain appropriate blood glucose concentrations. How ghrelin acts in the brain to control blood glucose concentrations remains unknown and will be the focus of this project. This project is relevant to disorders such as anorexia nervosa and will help us understand blood glucose regulation during conditions of food scarcity.
