Reconfiguring intimate life: Gender and sexuality as sites of national redefinition in Australia since 1996. This project will chart variations and changes in the representation of masculinity in Australia during the second half of the 20th century, as revealed by a movement-based study of two contrasting periods of Australian theatre, 1955-70 and 1985-2000. Whiteness: A Genealogical Study. We know so little about the white fathers of indigenous children and yet they remain a crucial part of stolen generations history. Bringing to the fore material about white fathers may further research on the possibilities of reconciling different historical accounts of Australian social life. Circus Aerialists: Bodies, Gender and National Identity. This research will produce the first critical study of circus aerial performance 1860 to 1990. It asks what the impact of this performance is on social beliefs about bodies. How has gender and national identity been presented in aerial acts? The research promotes the legendary Australian performers who have been among our most famous cultural exports, and yet remain neglected in Australia. Issues of Identity, Place and Belonging in Recent Works of Australian Autobiography. This project addresses issues of identity, place and belonging in Australia specifically in recent autobiographical works by Australian writers. It examines and compares selected life narratives of Indigenous and non-Indigenous writers in order to explore how these texts differently configure identity as well as how these understandings have been interpreted by Indigenous and non-Indigenous critics and readers. ....Issues of Identity, Place and Belonging in Recent Works of Australian Autobiography.
