Partnering with local knowledge systems to impact river management. The project aims to connect Local and Indigenous Knowledge Systems (LINKS) to other actors and processes involved in river transformation. Working in partnership with holders of Local and Indigenous knowledge, and using Indonesian river catchments as case studies, the project expects to generate new knowledge in development and planning studies. Participation in the administration of justice: deaf citizens as jurors. This project will pioneer international research on legal signed language interpreting and jury service; the results are likely to innovate law reform. The expected outcome will be to overturn previously held common law that deaf people cannot serve as jurors due to having an interpreter as the 13th person in the jury room as well as confidentiality issues.

Fuzzy logics for graded reasoning in applied contexts. Many things we care about, such as friendship or safety, come in degrees, but our current systems for tracking information are not built to handle this. This project aims to enhance many-valued logic as a tool to manage graded information. This project aims to understand how socially marginalised Thai gay men and transgenders draw on Buddhist healing traditions as alternative and complementary therapies in dealing with HIV/AIDS and other health emergencies.
