A Socio-Legal History of Australia's Environmental Lawyers. This historical study of 50 years of Australian environmental lawyering (1970-2020) aims to develop and preserve an unprecedented data set of environmental lawyers over multiple generations. It will create important new knowledge, challenging the common and limited treatment of lawyers as mere instruments of social causes and revealing a novel, and previously unexplored, layer of environmental governance. The Australasian Legal History Library: Creating historical depth in legal data on AustLII, to improve all legal research. The Australasian Legal History Library, to be located for free access on AustLII, will provide comprehensive legislation and case law from all colonies (subsequently Australian States, Territories or New Zealand) up to 1950. Its citator will show how these historical materials are used in current legal decisions. It will be a revolution for legal history research.

Global climate change is projected to have serious consequences for Australia. Innovative research to provide a legal framework for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (RED(D)) schemes in developing countries, including Indonesia, is needed. As Australia is likely to be the first country in the world to recognise 'offset ....Developing a legal framework for Indonesia's participation in an internationally sanctioned scheme for reducing emissions from deforestation (and degradation). Global climate change is projected to have serious consequences for Australia. Innovative research to provide a legal framework for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (RED(D)) schemes in developing countries, including Indonesia, is needed. As Australia is likely to be the first country in the world to recognise 'offset credits' from RED(D), under its proposed emissions trading scheme commencing in 2010-2011, the project will benefit Australia. The project will also support the Australian government's Global Initiative on Forests, including the Kalimantan Forests and Climate Partnership with Indonesia.
