Summary
Children’s healthy development is important for their readiness to learn, academic achievement at school, and for their future health and economic capability. This study links whole-of-population administrative data from nine different government sources, and data collected as part of a natural experiment evaluating the effects of the South Australian Family Home Visiting program to inform policy and service delivery in child health and development in South Australia.
Developmental pathways to health, education and delinquency outcomes in Western Australia children: a holistic approach to inform early intervention strategies. This project will pioneer population-level data linkages between WA's population health databases and information held by the WA Departments of Education (numeracy and literacy), Justice (juvenile delinquency), Disabilities, and Community Development (child protection). This project will determine the cost-effectiveness of 2 types of physical activity (PA) interventions based around the workplace. 480 participants will be randomly assigned to PA intervention groups or controls. Interventions are either a (1) self-regulated, pedometer-based program or a (2) semi-structured, 40-day initiation to more moderately-vigorous PA. This project seeks to explore the challenges faced and outcomes achieved by students with an intellectual disability as they move from secondary school into adult life. This project seeks to explore the challenges faced and outcomes achieved by students with an intellectual disability as they move from secondary school into adult life. Family impacts can include significant loss of income as parents may have to cease employment to care for their young adult who has limited employment or day placement options.
