Assessing risk in aged mental health care. This study will explore practices and developments in relation to the assessment of risk in aged persons mental health from the perspective of multiple stakeholders. The aims are to gain a thorough understanding of existing practices with a view to developing and evaluating a comprehensive risk assessment model. The outcomes will enhance the provision of mental health services within aged mental health services.
Global wavefront propagation and non-elliptic Fredholm theory. Many significant phenomena in the natural world are described by partial differential equations that involve evolution in time. This project aims to develop theoretical results and practical techniques in the study of Partial Differential Equations. Harmonic analysis is used to study these equations; in which a system’s local behaviour is used to analyse global properties, using techniques such as the Fourier transform. The project will investigate central problems in the area, revealing deep connections between analysis and geometry, and apply these to study the solutions’ long-term behaviour to non-linear equations. Expected outcomes include theoretical results and practical techniques to solve non-linear dispersive equations, which arise in quantum and fluid mechanics.Read moreRead less

This project aims to develop new analysis methods associated to the Schrodinger operator, and to solve several challenging problems regarding dispersive partial differential equations (PDE). Long-time dynamics of PDE solutions are a key goal in both pure and applied mathematics, and have been extensively studied by leading mathematicians and mathematical physicists. However, it is unknown how to investigate large solutions when the order of the PDE's nonlinearity is low. This project expects to develop new methods to attack such problems. The results of the project will be of great importance in mathematics and physics, as many fundamental physical models in areas such as optics, fluid mechanics and quantum mechanics fit the paradigm.Read moreRead less
Nonlinear harmonic analysis and dispersive partial differential equations. This proposal is devoted to linear and nonlinear harmonic analysis. It aims to unify the most significant attributes of harmonic analysis such as restriction estimates, dispersive properties of differential operators, spectral multipliers, uniform Sobolev estimates and sharp Weyl formula. Such unification will strongly improve tools for mathematical modelling in all areas of technology and science. Notable applications in ....Nonlinear harmonic analysis and dispersive partial differential equations. Notable applications include medical imaging, fluid dynamics and subatomic modelling using quantum interpretation.
It will solve several important open problems in spectral analysis of partial differential operators and develop new cutting-edge techniques in harmonic analysis with application to nonlinear partial differential equations.Read moreRead less
Geometric Group Theory. Groups arise naturally as symmetries of geometric objects. Often groups have an interesting geometric structure obtained by thinking of these geometric objects coursely. This project aims to study the subgroup structure of such groups and obtain homological, geometric and algorithmic information. It further investigates natural decompositions of groups with geometric structure along special subgroups so that the factors have simpler properties.{P

We wish to install a low temperature absorption cell that will be coupled to high resolution spectrometer systems operating in the infrared, visible and ultra-violet regions of the spectrum. This will enable us to further develop techniques for the study of the structures, dynamics and kinetics of molecules of biological and atmospheric significance. This will lead to a better understanding of the structures, dynamics and reaction kinetics of these species and in the case of atmospheric species also provide molecular parameters required for atmospheric monitoring.Read moreRead less
